There’s something about a good outdoor market.

Maybe it’s the thrill of spotting something incredible three tables away. Maybe it’s digging through a box and finding the one thing you didn’t know you needed. Or maybe it’s simply spending a Sunday wandering, shopping, eating, and seeing what turns up.

At The Birdsnest, we decided one store full of treasures simply wasn’t enough.

Several Sundays throughout the year, we take the treasure hunt outside with The Birdsnest Outdoor Market, bringing together local vintage sellers, antique dealers, makers, collectors, food vendors, and more right here in Modesto.

More Vendors. More Finds. More Fun.

The Birdsnest is already home to more than 70 independent vendors inside our approximately 15,000-square-foot store. During our Outdoor Markets, even more vendors join us outside for the day.

And just like shopping inside The Birdsnest, no two markets are exactly alike.

You might find vintage furniture, records, clothing, collectibles, home décor, handmade goods, artwork, jewelry, plants, oddities, repurposed pieces, or an antique you’ve been trying to track down for years.

Then there’s everything you weren’t looking for.

Those tend to be our favorite finds.

A Different Kind of Sunday in Modesto

Our Outdoor Markets are designed to be more than a quick shopping trip.

Grab something to eat, wander through the outdoor vendors, head inside the store, explore upstairs, circle back around to the booth you can’t stop thinking about, and make an afternoon of it.

Whether you’re a serious collector, decorating your home, looking for something unusual, or simply searching for something fun to do in Modesto, there’s always something new to discover.

And because our outdoor vendors change from market to market, coming to one doesn’t mean you’ve seen them all.

One of our favorite things about the Outdoor Market is the opportunity to showcase independent sellers and small businesses from throughout Modesto and the Central Valley.

When you shop a local market, you’re often buying directly from the person who found it, made it, restored it, collected it, or decided it was finally time to pass it along.

That makes the experience a little more personal—and a lot more interesting.

Every booth has its own personality.

The Outdoor Market may be happening outside, but the treasure hunt doesn’t stop at the front door.

The Birdsnest remains open during the market, giving you approximately 15,000 square feet more to explore.

Inside you’ll find antiques, vintage treasures, furniture, home décor, records and music, lighting, collectibles, handmade goods, gifts, and plenty of unexpected finds from our community of independent vendors.

And yes—there’s more upstairs.

When Are The Birdsnest Outdoor Markets?

The Birdsnest hosts five Outdoor Markets each year, generally on select Sundays during the spring and fall.

Our markets take place in March, April, May, September, and October, giving shoppers several opportunities throughout the year to come out and see what’s new.

Individual market dates, hours, vendor information, and other details are announced on our website and social media.

We’re always excited to welcome great vendors to our Outdoor Markets.

If you sell vintage goods, antiques, handmade items, collectibles, art, clothing, food, or something interesting that you think would be a good fit for The Birdsnest community, keep an eye out for vendor registration announcements for upcoming markets.

Spaces are limited and some of our markets sell out, so early registration is always a good idea.

We’re open seven days a week, so even if you can’t make it to one of our Outdoor Markets, there’s always another day to come treasure hunting.
